listen out for the switch of pace, class. this is followed by tegel, presumably named after the airport in berlin. with this we get a kind of dingy berlin vibe, morose, grey yet ingrained with a bouncing energy that you just cant help but bop your head to. on the flip side thaiman injects a slightly odd feel to the ep with warped, muted sounds meandering around a subtle bassline. finally, makcim & levi close up the ep with dope erwt another roller that will enchant the dance floor from the start, building into a bright, airy breakdown before continuing in its somber yet groovy manner.

acid, no wave and experimental house producer drvg cvltvre has been busy recently. after releasing with chris moss acid on shipwrec in 2014, vincent koreman then served up a full ep of his own, on dutch label cos_mos and is now back once again with a new four track affair on pinkman that comes two years after he offered up the labels first ep in 2013. up first, * my houz* is a swampy house track with heavy drums, whirring machines and white noise textures all adding up to an intense affair that sounds like little else. then comes * tyranny of the gods* , a slow tempo but high impact track that builds and builds on a nerve lead synth line as frazzled bass props things up from below. dark and weird, occult and rave, its another unique proposition. on the flip, * sleepdealer* is an unbalanced house track with taught, tight bass and is shot through with laser like synths. serene and spaced out, it makes way for closer * crack spirit guide* which is a noisy, intense and brooding fusion of crisp percussion, big walls of synth and chattering drums that really have you on edge. once agin, then, drvg cvltvre has come up with the idiosyncratic goods.

the original he serves up here is my groove, a firmly rooted and solid bit of house music with classically inclined vocal chants by gjeazon from crazy like a fox records, that recall eddie amador s biggest cut. subtle details embellish the groove and make it all the more standout, and those deep looping basslines really pull you into the middle of the track, which also has airy hi hats and a sleazy sense of funk. the first remix comes from afterparty founder, rinse fm radio host, former usher tour dj, southern fried affiliate and pioneer collaborator doorly, who also runs his own pigeon hole label. his remix smooths out the kinks and simmers a grainy groove for seven shuffling, seductive minutes. rolling effects and a big breakdown are sure to make for some fist pumping moments in the club. last to remix is play it down producer and foremost danish dj christian nielsen. he does so with an increased sense of urgency and his track hits that bit harder as a result, all thanks to a dirty down low bassline that just rolls and rolls.

nearly two years ago we released mys/kela by a newish stockholm-based producer who had put out a couple tracks on a couple labels studio barnhus and local talk owned by friends from around town. that produce s name was hnny and a lot has happened since then, both to him and to us. hes gone on to crank out more l.t. 12inches as well as some hes dropped on his yummy and puss imprints, weve gone on to unleash a couple dozen more records and see the list of talent we ve hosted at our parties grow to astounding length. somehow, through it all, we managed to stay close with hnny, whos real name is johan cederberg, and even book him for a couple nyc gigs. the friendship that began so humbly and gently in 2013 has blossomed.

portion control is a british electronic and industrial band from south london. the trio of john whybrew, ian sharp and dean piavani started out experimenting with electronics in 1980. linking up with in phaze records, they released a number of cassettes and records before signing with illuminated records in 1983. there followed a series of classic 12inch singles: raise the pulse, rough justice and go-talk, which have become underground dancefloor hits. the band classifies their music style as >hard rhythmic electronics< and were a major influence on skinny puppy, front line assembly and depeche mode.
available on vinyl (limited to 200 copies, no repress). release number eight on telefonplan is an all family affair. joining mad mats & toolis team of artists is swedish producer wiz andreas saag. mr saag has taken the leap from local talk and now makes his debut on telefonplan. opening track justice is dark, deep and with a sumptuous bass to sink your teeth into. it is rough and punchy with a clever vocal sample that almost works like a chant. justice comes in two versions, for those of you who like your song instrumental we have made sure your wish is granted too, it still got enough intensity about it without losing the pulsating heaviness. on the flipside, call of yacuma could be described as a grittier and stripped down version of andreas previous local talk track in the box. it is pure simplicity and groove makes it simply irresistible. listening to these tracks it is clear mr saag has been influenced by living in berlin these past years. both justice and call of yacuma wouldnt sound out of place in a dark club with a big soundsystem late at night. just make sure you get past the bouncer while entering the club.
